Dear Frankie, Shanice, Ricky and Sabine

Your posts are great! I really enjoyed reading them as the books you discuss are very different and I have learned quite a lot about the different genres. I am particularly pleased that you all appear to have chosen books which suit your tastes well - obviously you know what you like!

If you want to follow up any of the books you have read, you could ask in the Learning Centre to see if they have others of the same author or in the same series. If not, you could try the local library. Otherwise, you might have to save some pocketmoney and go back to Borders to get them as soon as they are released!

Good luck with your reading. You can come and talk to me whenever you want about the books you like, or don't like, or if you would like some more advice and help in finding something new.

my story is called Forever Rose. It`s wrote by a lady called Hilary McKay.

It`s all about Disasters, catastrophes, Friends, adventures, Homes. I think it`s mosly aimed at teenagers.

Rose is lonely. Her family are always busy doing their own things so Rose comes home to a dark, quiet, empty house every day. Saffy(roses friend) is off with Sarah, Indigo(roses brother) has his paper round and guitar lessons, Eve's in quarantine in the shed, Bill's not much use in London, and who knows where Caddy(roses friend) is since she disappeared with Michael's postcards! The only one around is David(indigos friend) and Rose would rather be alone than be with him!At least Rose still has her friends at school: the brilliant Kiran and the nice but boring Molly. But school is no longer a peaceful place where Rose can daydream. Mean Mr Spencer is always shouting about SATs. And now he's cancelled Christmas! But one thing Mr Spencer can't cancel is the Christmas School Trip which means Rose can help Molly with her ONE BIG IDEA but what could that be?

I like this book it has a bits that are funny bits that are sad. The bit i don`t like about it is that lots of things happen and it`s hard to understand. But its a good book.

Book Club

In class we were reading a book called 'Goodnight Mr.Tom'. We all thought it was boring though so we swapped to a book called Holes which most of us like. The book Holes, was published in 1998. It is about a boy called Stanley who dosen't have much luck. He says that is is beacause of his dirty-rotten-no-good-pig-stealing-great, great grandfather. In the book he goes to a camp which is called Camp Green Lake, a detention camp for naughty children. He is sent there because a pair of shoes fell from the sky on his head. They belonged to a famous baseball player. The police thought that he had stolen them so they said he could go to jail or detention camp. He chose to go to camp green lake.

Class reading

In class we were reading a book called Goodnight Mister Tom. It`s a novel wrote in 1981 by Michelle Magorian. It`s about a young boy called William Beech who is evacuated from London during world war II. He has to stay with a man called Tom Oakley.

We have just changed books to Holes. It`s a novel wrote in 2003 by Louis Sachar. Holes is about a boy called stanley yelnat`s he is convicted of stealing a pair of sneakers donated to a charity by a famous athlete called Clyde Livingston. He has to go to camp green lake for 18 months. He must stay in a dry desert digging holes 5 by 5 metres.

I prefer holes i think it`s more interesting. Goodnight mister tom is alright but it`s not as good as Holes.
